Wimbledon, The Ashes & more!

We love the summer of sport here at Appleton’s Butchers! Yes, the England ladies didn’t win the football World Cup (but 3rd place is still an incredible achievement!), the British GP has been and gone (well done Lewis Hamilton!) and the beach volleyball world championships in the Netherlands finished on Sunday (did anybody watch?), but there is plenty of sport still to be enjoyed!

Andy Murray has advanced to the second week of Wimbledon and off the back of his victory at Queen’s Club, he’s second favourite behind reigning champion Djokovic. Make sure you have plenty of pork pies to munch on to get you through the second week of the tennis. If you’re planning a party for the final, make sure you have a good spread on offer. Last year’s final lasted almost 4 hours, so you’ll need some sustenance to get you through the highs (and lows!) if Murray makes it to the final!

The Ashes starts this week as well. There’s nothing quite like a fresh bacon sandwich and a brew as the first ball is bowled whilst some sausage rolls, scotch eggs and roast ham will bring your lunch to life as you watch Jimmy Anderson and co take it to the Aussies! Our amazing steak pies will feed the whole family at tea time, so you can discuss the best wickets, catches and missed opportunities of the day.

With plenty of other sport to get watching this summer (the Tour De France has started!), make sure you get all the family round, an open invitation for all your friends to watch the important events all together. Fire up the BBQ and get some burgers and sausages from us to ensure everyone is well fed! Enjoy the sport and savour the summer!
