How Yorkshire’s getting geared up for Le Tour

People across Yorkshire are celebrating the final countdown to the Tour de France in many weird and wonderful ways.

Appleton’s Pork Butchers in Ripon has cooked-up an edible ‘pie-cycle’ in honour of the Tour – a life-sized bike made from all its best bits.

While in York, artist Karen Winship has produced a painting, in homage to David Hockney, called ‘The Road through York’ featuring the city’s famous landmarks.

The image was divided in 320 squares and during 10 free workshops at the Railway Institute, people from 2 to 90 years old, came together to paint a square measuring one metre by one metre.
